Antenatal care that meets the eight-contact standard

The World Health Organization’s 2016 antenatal care model recommends eight contacts between a pregnant woman and her healthcare provider. The Federal Ministry of Health has incorporated this standard into national guidelines. Each contact is an opportunity: to monitor the pregnancy, to detect complications early, to deliver IPTp, iron-folate, tetanus protection, and counselling, and to plan for a safe delivery.

Nexacare supports facilities to operationalise the eight-contact standard with practical job aids, supportive supervision, and data discipline. We work with State Ministries of Health to align facility practice with national guidance and ensure that ANC attendance translates into the full bundle of evidence-based interventions.

Every pregnancy deserves a structured, dignified, and complete continuum of care.
