Dr. Mannir Ahmad – Founding Trustee/Chair of the Board of Trustees
Dr. Mannir Ahmad is a global public health leader with more than 11 years of experience in health systems strengthening, data-driven decision-making, and epidemiology. As the Chair of the Board of Trustees at Nexacare Centre for Digital Health & Community Wellbeing, Dr. Ahmad is at the forefront of transforming Nigeria’s public health landscape.
Dr. Ahmad has led high-impact health interventions across polio eradication, malaria prevention, maternal and child health, and immunization programs, working directly with national and international agencies like WHO, UNICEF, and USAID. His extensive background in public health programming and policy development has helped scale innovative health solutions in some of Nigeria’s most underserved areas, impacting millions of lives.
As an epidemiologist and data specialist, Dr. Ahmad has implemented health data systems, digital health tools, and real-time surveillance systems for tracking disease outbreaks, enabling faster responses and targeted interventions. His work has not only improved service delivery but has also made a measurable impact on health outcomes in Kano State, Katsina, Jigawa, and other states in northern Nigeria.
Under Dr. Ahmad’s leadership, Nexacare has been recognized for its data-driven approach to public health, focusing on innovative solutions to address challenges such as malaria, vaccination coverage, and data quality. He is particularly known for his ability to bring together multi-sectoral stakeholders, ensuring that public health programs are not only effective but also sustainable.
Dr. Ahmad holds a PhD in Public Health (Environmental Epidemiology) from Dove Francaise University, Richmond, London, UK. He is a published author and a regular speaker at global health forums, advocating for digital health integration, data literacy, and systemic change in healthcare.

Auwal Sunusi – Founding Trustee/Secretary of the Board of Trustees
Auwal Sunusi is an accomplished Public Health Practitioner and Community Health Data Analyst with more than 7 years of experience in public health program management, data analysis, and health system strengthening. As the Secretary and Founding Trustee of Nexacare Centre for Digital Health & Community Wellbeing, Auwal plays a pivotal role in guiding the organization’s governance and strategy, ensuring effective implementation of health interventions and compliance with local and international standards.
Auwal is deeply committed to advancing digital health and data-driven solutions for public health in Nigeria. He has been instrumental in developing real-time data reporting systems, public health data visualization tools, and health information systems that support decision-making and program monitoring in immunization, malaria control, and maternal and child health initiatives. His work extends to capacity-building for health professionals, focusing on data quality, health reporting accuracy, and monitoring & evaluation.
With a background in Community Health Extension Work (CHEW) and a bachelor’s degree in public health, Auwal has worked with local health teams, NGOs, and international health organizations to tackle health disparities and improve health outcomes in underserved communities. His hands-on approach has contributed to the successful implementation of health interventions that have reached thousands of vulnerable individuals, particularly in rural and remote regions.
