Maternal, newborn, and child health

Maternal, newborn, and child health

What this pillar means

Every pregnancy deserves the full continuum of care: structured antenatal care, skilled birth attendance, postnatal care for mother and newborn, and ongoing well-child care through routine immunisation and illness management. Our pillar work is aligned with WHO 2016 antenatal care standards (eight contacts), the Federal Ministry of Health MNCH guidelines, and IMNCI standards for child illness management.

How we work

  • Eight-contact ANC support per WHO and FMOH standard
  • Skilled birth attendance support at primary healthcare facility level
  • Four-contact postnatal care for mother and newborn
  • Community case management of childhood illness
  • Newborn danger sign awareness
  • Maternal danger sign awareness
  • Family planning awareness and method initiation post-delivery
