Community engagement and SBC

Community engagement and social and behaviour change

What this pillar means

Community trust is the foundation that every other pillar rests on. Our community engagement and social and behaviour change (SBC) pillar centres trusted leadership, women’s groups, youth groups, and community health volunteers as the primary partners in health delivery. Where the community is engaged with respect, every other intervention works better.

How we work

  • Engagement with traditional and religious leadership at ward, LGA, and state level
  • Women’s group activation
  • Youth group engagement
  • Community health volunteer (CHV) recruitment, training, and support
  • SBC materials grounded in community priorities, not externally driven
  • Beneficiary Feedback and Complaints Mechanism activation
  • Hausa-language adaptation of all community-facing materials with field pretest
