World Immunization Week 2026 -Reach every child

World Immunization Week (24 to 30 April 2026) is a global moment to recommit to the protection that vaccines offer to every generation. The figures tell us why this matters. WHO and UNICEF report that 19.9 million children missed at least one dose of DTP vaccine in 2024 and 14.3 million received no vaccine at all (zero-dose). UNICEF Nigeria estimates 2.2 million unvaccinated children in Nigeria, the highest in Africa and among the highest globally. Nigeria’s NDHS 2023 to 2024 reports that 39 per cent of children aged 12 to 23 months are fully vaccinated, up from 13 per cent in 2003, meaningful progress, and a reminder that the work is not done.

Every missed dose is a signal. A signal for better settlement mapping. A signal for stronger routine immunisation. A signal for trusted community engagement. A signal for real-time data use. A signal for follow-up until every eligible child is reached.

At Nexacare, we focus on strengthening data systems to identify and reach missed and zero-dose children, supporting community engagement and demand for vaccines, enabling digital tools for tracking, monitoring, and follow-up, and driving partnerships that improve access, equity, and coverage.

Reach every child. Protect every generation. Build a healthier Africa.
